Home remedies for chest congestion for a 2 year-old?

Can't get to the doctor until Friday. Anything I can do at home until then? Thanks.
Definitely don't let my daughter drink soda..never.

My 3 year old just got through this, without a trip to the doctor.

A WARM mist vaporizer, with the vicks liquid added to the water. Make sure to keep your childs door open as to not make it too humid in his/her room.

Childrens Mucinex. It's a few days of hell, but it gets all of the congestion up and out... be prepared for lots of snots/coughing up mucus though.

Shower soothers. If you don't have a vaporizer handy, pick up those. (sudacare I beleive makes them). Place one in a HOT shower, and shut the bathroom door. after about 5 minutes take your child into the bathroom and it's like a DREAM.

And, the common sense things... lots of rest & fluids. Avoid long periods out and about, & encourage quiet play & resting. If you're a SAHM this can be easy, but if your child goes to daycare/babysitters this could be difficult. Maybe if you can, take a few days off work to keep your child company while resting up!

Another possible remedy to be taken at night is to take a glass of very hot water and add a teaspoon of honey to it. Drink it slowly just before going to bed.
